SaveMiHeart, a nonprofit initiative in Michigan to help improve survival from out of hospital cardiac arrest, is offering a free on line course for telecommunicator management of 911 cardiac arrest calls. The self-paced, one hour course is accessible 24/7 and approved in Michigan for one course hour by the State 911 Committee_ Training Course ID#: SAV 202001A.
The course includes a review of the physiology of cardiac arrest, the importance of rapid recognition of cardiac arrest over the phone using the No-No-Go Method, coaching and maintaining hands only CPR until help arrives, overcoming common barriers to recognition of cardiac arrest and the importance of effective T – CPR quality programs.

Michigan 911 dispatchers are eligible to receive reimbursement for a Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR course after completing the course and passing the quiz. Recently, the American Heart Association announced in Circulation the AHA’s Telecommunicator CPR (T-CPR) Advisory Statement. This advisory statement takes recommendations from the previous ILCOR and AHA statements and provides necessary guidance for telecommunicators and local authorities to develop quality, effective T-CPR programs.
